Ruth Heringa

Ruth obtained a bachelor’s degree in Cultural anthropology and social sciences at the university of Utrecht. Currently she is pursuing a master’s degree in Theology and Religious Studies with a specialization in Peace, Trauma and Religion at the VU. Through her studies she became more and more interested in people’s tendencies towards extreme ideologies and beliefs, especially within the digital era. Ruth contributes to the Extreme Beliefs project with her master thesis about the relationship between digital mass media and tendencies towards right-wing extremism among Dutch millennials. With her master thesis she aims to contribute to a better understanding of the different factors underlying the motivational drive to adopt extreme beliefs.
