Dr. Allan Novaes is an associate professor in the School of Theology at the Adventist University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has a PhD in Religious Studies from the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was a visiting researcher at the Seventh-day Adventist Seminary at Andrews University, United States, and in the Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, United States. His primary research interests include the relationship between media and religion, theology and pop culture, gaming and religion, death and religion, Adventist studies and conspiracy theory. He is currently working on conspiracy theories in Brazilian evangelical culture and in the Seventh-day Adventist tradition. He has published more than 20 articles in journals such as Studies in World Christianity, Gameviroments and Teoliterária.  He is also the author of book chapters in the Theology, Religion and Pop Culture Series from Lexington Books and Fortress Academic, and a contributing author to the Handbook on Religion and Communication by Wiley Blackwell.
