Fleur Freeke

External PhD candidate
Fleur Freeke is an external PhD candidate of the Extreme Beliefs Research group, alongside her work as diaconal worker and coordinator at a community center in Utrecht. She holds a BA in Political Science and a pre-master’s in Theology, and completed her Master’s degree in Religion, Ethics and Politics at the TU Dortmund. During her master’s she focused on biblical and religious narratives and their use in the political sphere, as well as on (inter)religious dialogue in the public sphere. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of political science and theology, and in practicing interdisciplinary research.

In her PhD research, she examines the theology of ordinary believers who are attracted to far-right political ideologies. Through this research she aims to learn more about the theology of ordinary believers and how this relates to the political preferences of people.
