John Horgan is Universiteitshoogleraar aan de afdeling Psychologie van Georgia State University, waar hij ook de Violent Extremism Research Group (VERG) leidt. Zijn werk is breed bekend binnen terrorisme studies, met name boeken als The Psychology of Terrorism (Routledge 2014) [nu in de tweede editie en gepubliceerd in meer dan twaalf talen wereldwijd], Divided We Stand: The Strategy and Psychology of Ireland’s Dissident Terrorists (Oxford University Press 2013); Walking Away from Terrorism (Routledge 2009), Leaving Terrorism Behind (Routledge 2008), en Terrorism Studies: A Reader (Routledge 2009).
